Baja - The Ultimate Road Trip
One Dog, Two people and Four Wheels
A wild 6-month ride wheeling through Mexico’s Baja Peninsula, Heidi, Tom and Sam here we go…
Heidi and I don’t consider this a vacation but more a lifestyle. So we like a little "vacation" once in a while. Cabo is less then two hours away and is a fun overnight destination.
Everywhere in Latin America we enjoy taking the public transportation. For
under a buck we can go almost anywhere.
In the tourist section of Cabo you can get just about anything. ?
The seating is all open air and food is inexpensive and really good.
On our drive home we run through some small villages that sell carne asada
by the kilo with all the fixing’s included.
My sister has a timeshare in Cabo and invites us to hang out. Can-Do! Not
our normal thing, but Heidi says she belongs here!
Back in Los Barriles a 1,400 mile, five day off-road race came right through town, the Mexican
1000. The race is geared for vintage vehicals. We setup with lawn chairs
and proceeded to get into the race. I have always been in love with Baja
off-road racing.
Enjoy…
While my eyes were filling up with emotions that have been with me my entire life, I turn to Heidi and
say "I've always wanted to do a Baja Race” She fires right back "Why don’t you!” At that moment in time
my whole life completely changed. "How often I found where I should be going only by setting out for
somewhere else.” R. Buckminster Fuller. Well it sure worked for us this time, we are now totally
committed and focused on doing everything and anything to prepare Team Junkans for the Mexican 1000,
2017’ the fiftieth anniversary of Baja off-road racing. I had no idea life could drastically change
directions in an instant clearing up an enigma, a dream of something so completely fantastic I never
imagined was in my reach.
Stay tuned for more fun in Baja Mexico…
