The 2018 NORRA Mexican 1000
1,362 Mile of Off-Road Motorcycle Racing over the Length of Mexico's Baja Peninsula

Baja gas stop

Continuing South through more awesome Baja scenery…

The decision to take the West side down is now in question. The roads are the worst we have ever driven, the pot holes are truck eaters and so numerous and frequent they cannot be avoided no matter how you try. We don’t remember this during any other trip on this road, I don’t even remember it being bad when Hipster and I road our bikes through here after the race last year, it’s like it just happened and there are zero attempt to fill them in. Heidi and I theorize it’s because all the road construction efforts of North Baja are being concentrated on finishing the Eastern route to San Felipe.

We make it to Guerrero Negro for the second night staying at the same motel the NORRA race stays at for day-2. The bikes only stay here, the cars go to Bay of LA on day-2.

We go into town in search of fish tacos. SCORE!
I think the people of Northern Wisconsin are friendly, but Baja people put us to shame.

Back on the road the next day at some unknown village I spot ‘Desayunos’ We’re in Mexico and we love Mexican food, we’re not about to eat breakfast at some Americanized hotel restaurant.

The best egg chicken mixto of the day burritos ever made and served by an ultra-friendly family. They were both elated to recieve a ‘cavebiker Racing’ sticker and immediately stick it on their refrigerator. I hope you are enjoying 'My road to Baja Racing' This is My Road and I'm trying to tell it all. Starting from way before we even hit the road the emotions inside my brain have been reaching a boiling point to the point of explosiveness. Baja racing has been inside my brain for almost 50 years now and I never realized how much it meant to me until Heidi and I witnessed the NORRA race three years ago. The rest is history… Hang tight, there are pics of Real Baja Race Bikes on the Real Baja Race Course coming up.

Santa Rosalía, one of our favorite Mexican cities.

We ask for and get our favorite room.

Loreto. We meet a group of people who are preparing to do a 5 day kayak adventure to an island off of Loreto. This is a protected island and you must be with a tour. The woman on the left was a tour guide here but now lives in California and has a group of friends who are fired up to experience it. They are so lucky to have such a group of friends who are into this stuff together. After the first photo I took I asked for some attitude, and got it!

Here’s a Desayunos place we have been to before. Even though they have a sign in English it is all Mexican.

This will work, my company is happy, I’m happy and I continue to fund our crazy adventures.

And Heidi and Sam are happy.

I have last years roadbook in my scroll chart thingie and I now have a GPS that will actually load and display the race course. Time to go out and have some fun and train my body for Baja Motorcycle Racing.

This is so cool, I love taking pics but you aren’t about to take pics while in a race. The course is so scenic there is no way you will see the stuff racers see unless you are on the race course.

Yeah, I’m a ham, but I’m living my dream and I can not believe where I am and what I’m doing. I just have to share this. Life can be so great if you just pursue it to the fullest…

Is this good stuff or what!
Stay tuned for more fun in Baja Mexico…
